Today marks the start of Pride month and as the Pride Employee Resource Group (ERG), we’re very excited to hold our first official celebrations. We’ve been working hard to make sure that June is an inspiring, educational, and empowering month for our colleagues across the world.
At MiQ, the vision is to have inclusion at the heart of our culture. To help achieve that, we’ve set up a dedicated Inclusion and Diversity committee and we publish an annual Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Accountability (I.D.E.A) report. And in June 2021, we were proud to set up our Pride ERG group, giving LGBTQ colleagues and allies a space to connect. We know we have a way to go, so our Pride ERG exists to drive forward even more positive change.
We know how important it is to raise awareness and make sure the LGBTQ community feels seen and heard. Like many other companies, we’re updating our logo to reflect rainbow themes and outwardly express our support. But it’s about more than just joining a trend. It’s about showing that we’re a place for everyone to feel a true sense of inclusion.
And this year, we’ve gone one step further. We’ve updated our branding to mirror the Progressive Pride Flag, which represents the Trans and BIPOC communities. These communities continue to be under political and social attack. As a representation of the LGBTQ community, we’re proud to stand with them.
So, what else have we got planned for Pride month? Well, for starters, we’re hosting a huge range of internal events. We’re bringing everyone together to listen to different experiences, and even hear from some very special guest speakers. Plus, we’ll get stuck into some social activities along the way and fundraise for charities who support the LGBTQ community.
We’re also proud to announce our new blog series “LGBTQ & Ally Voices of MiQ.” In this series, we’ll hear from people in different roles, in different countries, with different experiences. They’ll tell us about their story, how they’re celebrating Pride and what it means to them.
So with lots planned for Pride month, we’re ready to get the celebrations underway.
