LIFE AT MiQ

A snapshot of this year’s Spark24

MiQ

What is Spark24?

Spark24 is our biggest global event. Held at our Center of Excellence in bustling Bengaluru, we bring together the brightest minds in the industry. It’s a chance for our clients and partners to experience the heart of MiQ, and meet our award-winning data scientists and tech experts. Plus, we solve complex business challenges and make the industry better.

Bigger, better, greener

This year, Spark24 hosted over 250 participants, so it was bigger and better than ever before. And it was also more sustainable. Working with 51toCarbonZero, we’re proud to say that this year’s Spark24 was a carbon neutral event. We were also delighted to have Databricks, our valued partners, as our conference sponsor.

Not your average welcome

After a traditional opening ceremony and presentation from Gurman Hundal (MiQ’s Co-founder and Global CEO), and Ramya Parashar (COO, India), it was time for the first conference session.

Krish Govindarajan (Chief Technology Officer, MiQ) took to the stage with Josh Carroll (Account Executive) and Vasco Henriques (Solutions Architect, Databricks) with a special Spark24 case study on MiQ’s TV Intelligence. The trio gave some great insights into how TV Intelligence scaled from a hack, to the industry’s only platform that looks holistically at TV, streaming and YouTube.

Not your average insights

In two different conference sessions, John Goulding (Global Chief Strategy Officer, MiQ) posed some provocative questions on the use of generative AI in programmatic, and spoke about MiQ’s sustainability journey.

To round the conference off, Richard Dunmall (Global President, MiQ) chaired an eye-opening conversation with an expert panel. Priyanka Bisen Shah (Head of Digital Marketing, Bajaj Auto), Rebecca Dixon (Media Director, THG) and Melissa Champagne (VP Media Planning, Spark Foundry) discussed whether innovation and technology really drive growth, and the challenges they’ve faced along the way.

Not your average hackathon

Then it was time for 14 teams to take on the 24-hour hack. Making the most of our technology and experts, each team developed a solution to solve a business challenge. It was incredible to see such a high standard of work, and just how much was achieved in just a matter of hours.

After grabbing a caffeine fix, every team had eight minutes to present their solution to the judges, followed by a brief Q&A session. Cue plenty of deliberation for our judges.

And the winners were…

Team ‘Whisky Business’ (featuring William Grant & Sons) took home the winning trophy. The team built a solution to navigate retailer data restrictions in the alcohol vertical. They leveraged MiQ’s extensive commerce data and unifying this with the client’s data in a privacy-compliant, and scalable way. They then built a dashboard to visualize this data, making it actionable and insightful. It’s an incredible product, and an incredible feat. Congratulations to the team!
